From the 25th of May 2018, the most important change in European data privacy regulation, in two decades, comes into force.
The EU General Data Protection Regulation aims to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true, data collectors will have to abide by new rules such as: clear consent requests, timely breach notifications, the right to be forgotten, privacy by design, to just name a few.
EffiBUILDING, together with other projects and initiatives dealing with data on the energy performance of buildings, must implement these new rules. The most important changes are highlighted in the briefing launched by our sister project Exceed and available here.
Due to the common vision and mission, a strong cooperation with the EXCEED Project has been established.
The ExcEED project (which stands for European Energy Efficient building district Database: from data to information to knowledge) aims to create a European database for measured and qualitative data on beyond the state-of-the-art buildings and districts. Key performance indicators (KPIs) will be developed to quantify and benchmark the energy efficiency and the environmental quality at building and district level.
News about EffiBUILDING have been periodically published in the Exceed website. EffiBUILDING community will be updated on the development of the Exceed project.
European Commission continues their investments to improve the energy efficiency solutions for buildings. Two energy topics under the 2018-2020 Horizon 2020 Work Programme are now open for proposal submission.

2017 has been an important year for EffiBUILDING, the most innovative sharing platform for the energy efficiency solutions of buildings.
We have reached more than 100 prototypes available for consultation in our database related to the four macro categories windows, façade, photovoltaic modules and sensors. These prototypes represent the future of the technologies and innovations in the energy efficiency of buildings: an article on this important achievement has been also published in the European portal for the Energy Efficiency in buildings BUILD UP.
Furthermore, we have reached more than 50 active members from all over the world, who has registered in the database and share their products and prototypes as well as providing feedback for the product development and the future steps for the database.
These results have been possible thanks to the active members as well as for our cooperation with ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform), which provide an excellent work of scouting and promotion of the most interesting prototypes from FP7 and H2020 European projects.

Predicting the future of the energy efficiency solutions of buildings: 100 prototypes in EffiBUILDING
We are glad to share with you an important achievement of our most innovative sharing platform for the energy efficiency solutions of buildings.
We have reached 100 prototypes available for consultation in our database related to the four macro categories windows, façade, photovoltaic modules and sensors. These prototypes represent the future of the technologies and innovations in the energy efficiency of buildings.
This result has been possible thanks to the active members who share their prototypes as well as for our cooperation with ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform), which provide an excellent work of scouting and promotion of the most interesting prototypes from FP7 and H2020 European projects.

The EffiBUILDING team
From today, you can apply for funding in eight energy topics under the 2018-2020 Horizon 2020 Work Programme that are now open for proposal submission. The total available funding is €212.5 million. There are some interesting calls also for the energy efficeincy of buildings in particlar for BIPV solutions.

According to SolarWorld, the company delivers modules that have greater than or equal to the nameplate rated power. SolarWorld guarantees a maximum performance degression of 0.7% p.a. in the course of 25 years, a significant added value compared to the two-phase warranties common in the industry. In addition, SolarWorld is offering a product warranty, which has been extended to 10 years.
The new generation of the SW photovoiltaic modules are Sunmodule Plus and Sunmodule Bisun. The Sunmodule Plus delivers maximum flexibility for nearly every application. The Sunmodule Bisun protect delivers high yields all-round: It is a solar module active on both sides that converts light from all directions into electrical energy. This ensures up to 25 % more yield per installed kWp. Thanks to the use of the newest glass technologies, it also has a particularly long lifespan and high mechanical durability.

Osirys project: forest based composites for façades to improve indoor air quality in new builds and restoration
The FP7 project Osirys has developed a serious of technologies to improve indoor air quality in new builds and restoration. The most promising prototypes are available in EffiBUILDING such as:
Bio resins cladding panels: Pultruded profiles and infused cladding panels based on bio resins and reinforcement made of fused natural and glass fibres.
Exterior Cladding System: the external cladding system is designed to provide a skin or layer intended to control the infiltration of weather elements and also for aesthetic purposes.
Fibrous foams: Porous wood fibre webs with varied densities are manufactured by the foam-laid forming technology.
Bio-Polymer foaming: Extrusion foamed bio-based thermoplastics are being developed in Osyris project as a core for an internal insulation board.

The Ku module portfolio consists of the following types: KuMax (144 cells), KuPower (120 cells), KuBlack (120 cells) and the corresponding double-glass KuDymond. They are available in both poly- and monocrystalline. KuDymond, KuMax and KuPower has also an innovative mono-PERC cell technology which the modules to reach a power range of up to 360/370 W.
